Bethany Gordon is a PhD candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Virginia. As an equity-driven engineer, Bethany utilizes behavioral science and social psychology to improve social justice in design of the built environment. Her past research endeavors have been published in Nature Sustainability and Environmental Engineering Science. She is the creator and co-instructor of the UVA course Engineering Social Justice. She received her BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UVA in 2017. Next year, Bethany will be joining the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Washington as an Assistant Professor.
